Since department of Liver Surgery & Liver transplantation of Renji Hospital attached to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine was set up in September, 2004, under the leadership by Professor Qiang XIA, the department has been committed to develop the first-class technology, management and service. Now the department is China's first Organ Transplant & General Surgery Clinical Key Disciplines, Priority Key Subject of Clinical Medicine of Shanghai (Organ Transplantation), Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s key construction Discipline, the biggest liver transplantation center in China, as well as the biggest pediatric liver transplantation center in the world.

上海交通大学医学院附属仁济医院肝脏外科/肝移植中心成立于2004年9月，在学科带头人夏强教授的带领下，凭借一流的技术、管理和服务成为国家器官移植临床重点专科和、普外科临床重点学科建设单位、上海市重中之重临床医学中心（器官移植）和上海交通大学医学院重点学科，是国内最大的肝移植中心和国际最大的儿童肝移植中心。

Liver transplantation is a characteristic specialty of Renji Hospital. Over 5000 cases of liver transplantations have been completed successfully, which ranked most cases in China for eight consecutive years from 2011 to2018. Benefited from the strict and systematic postoperative follow-up system, 1-year and 5-year survival rates of overall liver transplantation in our hospital are 92% and 87% respectively, which reached the international advanced level.  Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) technology is standing at the top among hospitals in Shanghai, radiating its influence across the whole country. We took the lead in LDLT in China and has completed more than 2000 difficult LDLTs including left lateral lobe, left half liver, right half liver, expanded right liver with middle hepatic vein and dual grafts to one recipient transplantation, which has accumulated  more than half cases in Shanghai, and ranked first in China. More than 40 Chinese first-class hospitals (rank 3A) have visited our hospital and we assisted most of them to start their first local pediatric LDLT.

肝脏移植是学科的特色专业，学科已累积完成肝移植5000 余例，肝移植数量手术量连续十年居上海市第一、2011年至2018年肝移植总例数连续八年居全国首位，其中2017、2018连续两年完成肝移植超过800例，创造世界新纪录。同时由于实行严格和系统的术后随访制度，我院肝移植的总体1年和5年生存率分别达92%和87%，达国际先进水平。活体肝移植技术引领上海辐射全国，在上海率先大规模开展活体肝移植手术，迄今已完成包括左外侧叶、左半肝、右半肝、带肝中静脉扩大右半肝活体肝移植和两供一受在内的各种高难度活体肝移植手术2000余例，超过上海半数，列全国第1位。包括北京在内的全国40余家三级甲等医院到我院参观学习，其中多家单位由我院协助开展当地首例儿童肝移植手术。

 

The Department of Liver Surgery has five wings of medical wards with 150 beds, including two adult hepatic surgery units, an adult liver transplant unit, a pediatric hepatic surgery & liver transplant unit, an independent intensive care unit and a professional laboratory. We have 29 medical doctors, among which, are 2 chief surgeons, 2 chief physicians, 5 associate chief surgeons and 2 associate chief physicians, 12 chief attending surgeons and 6 resident doctors, 4 coordinators, 2 technicians and 2 office clerks.

科室目前拥有五个病区150张病床，包括两个成人肝外病区、一个成人肝移植病区、一个儿童肝外/肝移植病区、独立的重症监护室和一个专业实验室；现有医生30人，其中主任医师5人、副主任医师7人、主治医师12人、住院医师6人，专职协调员4人，技术员2人，文员2人。

Since the first pediatric liver transplant in October 2006, the department has developed the largest global pediatric liver transplant center. The number of pediatric liver transplantation has exceeded 1992, nearly one half of the total pediatric LTx in China. Starting from 2011, the number of pediatric liver transplantation has ranked first all over the world, postoperative one year and five year survival rates were 91% and 89.3% respectively, ranked first in China, and reached the international advanced level. In addition, we have carried out several pioneering surgeries in Shanghai, in China and even all over the world. In 2005, the department successfully completed a 73 year – old, the oldest patient hepatorenal joint transplant surgery. In 2007 the department successfully completed the first emergency treatment of living liver transplantation and saved a 5 month-old fulminant hepatic failure child. And the department carried out the first auxiliary LDLT in Shanghai in 2008. 94 split liver transplantation (adult 39 cases, children 55 cases) have been successfully carried out since 2010 (one liver for two recipients). In 2017 we implemented the world's first successful "mirror people" living donor liver transplantation, alleviating the increasingly serious donor shortage, and making beneficial exploration to improve the utilization rate of donor for the future.

学科自2006年10月实施第一例儿童肝移植手术至今，已建立国际最大的儿童肝移植中心，累积完成儿童肝移植手术量达1992余例，占全国儿童肝移植总数的近半数，患儿术后1年和5年生存率分别为91%和89.3%，居中国首位，达到国际先进水平。另外，学科成立至今已开展多项上海、全国乃至全球开创性手术， 2005 年成功完成 73 岁全国年龄最大肝肾联合植手术，2007年成功完成全国首例急诊活体肝移植救治 5 月幼童暴发性肝功能衰竭，2008年在上海率先成功开展原位活体辅助性肝移植，2010 年起先后成功开展94例劈离式肝移植手术（成人39例、儿童55例），2017年成功实施全球首例供体“镜面人”活体肝移植术，为今后缓解日益严重的供体短缺局面，提高供体的利用率，做出了有益的探索。

 

In recent years, we successfully obtained items of National Science and Technolgy Ministry special fund fucosing seriour diseases, 21 items of National Natural Science Fund Project, two items of National Health and Family Planning Commission, lead 3 multiple center clinical trials in China, more than 10 items of Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the total research funding is more than RMB 42 million. We published 208 clinical and scientific research papers, including top academic journal such as Nat Rev Immunol, Hepatology, with a total impact factor of 393.2. We were invited to attend the international conferences on organ transplantation to present special reports, and highly evaluated by the academia. Our techniques have been applied in 42 prefectural and municiple hospitals in China, achieved good therapeutic effects. We formulated first Clinical Guideline of Chinese Pediatric Liver Transplantation, participated in Clinical Guideline of Chinese Living Donor Liver Transplantation, Diagnosis and Treatment Guideline of Liver Transplant Rejection, Clinical Application Guideline of CsA in Liver Transplantation, Clinical Application Guideline of Tacrolimus in Liver Transplantation etc. We Standarded Technical Specification for the Clinical Application of Living Donor Liver Transplantation in China, and published audio and video data of living liver transplantation authorized by Chinese Ministry of Health. We were nominated as National Clinical Key Subjects of Organ Transplantation and General Surgery. Hosted by Professor Qiang XIA, the Establishment of Key Technology of Infant Liver Transplantation and its Clinical Application Promotion Project was awarded the first prize of Shanghai Medical Science, the first prize of Chinese Medicine Scientific and Technology, the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of National Ministry of Education. In 2015 we were awarded the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress. In 2018 we were hornored the second prize of China’s top Science and Technology award.

科研教学上，学科近年获得国家科技部重大疾病专项课题1项，自然科学基金项目 21 项、国家卫计委科研项目 2项、牵头多中心临床项目3 项、市科委重点及面上项目 10 余项、科研经费逾4200万元；发表临床与科研成果文章208篇，其中SCI论文120篇、影响因子393.2分，发表在包括 Nat Rev Immunol、 Hepatology等顶级学术刊物，多次应邀参加国际器官移植学术会议作专题报告，得到了学术界的高度评价，并在国内42家省市医院推广应用。 牵头制定首部《中国儿童肝移植临床诊疗指南》，参与制定《亲属活体肝脏移植临床诊疗指南》、《肝脏移植排斥反应临床诊疗指南》、《环孢素 A在肝脏移植中的临床应用指南》及《他克莫司在肝脏移植中的临床应用指南》等四部指南；《中国活体肝移植临床应用技术规范》等系列肝移植治疗规范，出版活体肝移植供肝切取音像资料一份。 是器官移植和普通外科的国家临床重点专科。2014 年由夏强教授领衔主持的《婴幼儿肝移植关键技术的建立及其临床应用推广》项目获得上海市医学科技奖一等奖、华夏医学科技一等奖、教育部科技进步一等奖， 2015 年荣获上海市科技进步一等奖，2018年荣获国家科技进步二等奖
